Polebridge is a small community that borders part of Glacier National park and is about 20 miles from the Canadian border.
The town is basically off grid and generates its power from Solar and gas generators, and you can forget about cell service or internet.
In Polebridge you will find the Polbridge Bakery and Northern Lights Saloon, plus a hostel, and a camping area.
A few miles before the bakery along the North Fork Road, you’ll find Home Ranch Bottoms, an ice-cream shop, Bar, and café, which is also a great place to stop for a beer, coffee, or a bite to eat.
Polbridge is just over an hour drive from West Glacier on a mostly a well-maintained dirt/gravel road, but make sure you gas up before making the trip, you can buy gas at Polebridge but expect to pay about double the price as compared to West Glacier, and there are no gas stations between West Glacier and Polebridge.
At Polebridge, you can enter the Northwest corner of Glacier National Park just behind the bakery (on a very rough dirt road) and make your way to Bowmen lake. This is an area of the park that is much less visited by tourist and is also much less crowded then West Glacier.
If your visiting Glacier and have some time, Polebridge is a great day trip,
